I enjoy varied areas for my morning walk. One of my favorites this time of the year is in Mahncke Park and the wild flowers. When I was there last week, there was a profusion of various colors and the butterflies in abundance.

Today I went and the ENTIRE wildflower park had been cut down.

Why have such an enjoyment to cut short the experience?

There's a big battle about this among the neighbors there. Check out Wildflower fight takes root in Mahncke Park

The short answer is that the city mowed there to prevent invasive species from taking over.

Every year the park is allowed to go wild for the flowers. Every year half the heighbors get mad, and hate that it is not cut. Now they have designated a corner, Milton and Funston, to not cut and cut the rest. However, I see they cut all of it, even the designated corner. Someday it will all be worked out.
