I am a young guy in mid-twenty into green living desperate to move out. It is difficult for me to live in my own because I collect fruit trees and plants which require yard and green space. I recently purchsed a vacant land zoned as R-1. I want to move out before I saved enough money to build a compact house with permenent foundation (require by zoning regulation). Is it possible to build a house on wheel as a teporary structure? Shipping container home possible???

Let me know if you guys has any suggestion or idea.

You should contact the city/county where you bought your property. In rural areas it's fairly common to be able to get a permit to live temporarily in a trailer /5th wheel while building your house but I think it's time restricted- I doubt if you could get away with it for very long without actually constructing a house.

It's very possible but it will depend on permitting.
I'm in the process of building a shipping container home now but I am posting the progress on another website

But I did read an article on how a Man Converts Shipping Container into Tiny Home on Wheels
I am not sure if I can post a link yet but its here: Shipping Container Home General Discussion
Good luck on that.. also you can build a garden on top of a shipping container for your fruit trees, it will act as roof insulation and a great place for your crops.

Best of luck!

Trailers generally costs less than shipping containers and they are built to live in. Shipping containers are built for strength. They are good for storage but not conducive to being converted into a home. A friend of mine was hired to convert one. It was difficult.

I have seen this is Vista CA, the tiny home was a back house with a main house in the front, but the county (not in city limits) allowed it for full time living.
