Do you want to live near Salton Sea? It smells really bad out there. Even as far away as I am in La Quinta, when we have humid days we can smell the Sea.

Salton Sea area is an *interesting* place to visit. Bombay Beach, Slab City, Salvation Mountain. Twinkle Toes is correct that it does smell very bad. Periodically, there is an algae bloom that kills off large amounts of fish, the fish wash up on shore and rot in the desert sun.

Do you want land to live on, or as an investment? I can't imagine it would be good for either.

I'm no real estate expert, but the abandoned hotels/motels/trailers surrounding the Salton See ought to be a good indication that its better left untouched. The smell alone would scare away potential investors and tourists.

We took a PT Cruiser run out there a couple of yrs ago.....First, it's like being in the barrio in TJ...2nd, it stinks.....3rd, it friggin stinks.

You could probably get 1/4 acre of land for a buck fitty

3. the lake is dying
