I thought this was really interesting. What do you think?

"San Diego County's military payroll is now the largest in the country, reflecting the Defense Department's decision to shift resources to the West Coast to contend with real and potential threats from China and the Middle East."

well, San Diego has the biggest/most military installations in one spot on the west coast...and combined with the cost of living allowances the govt gives the troops I wouldn't doubt that.

that's awesome though coz it's good for the economy

keep this article handy when people say that "San Diego is not a military town". It's one of, if not the largest, military towns in the country.

I'm in components/tech and 30+ percent of our customers in San Diego are military.

As a whole, 17B dollars a year are expected to be spent on defense within the San Diego County area this year, so this article seems to agree with those figures.

The military is a big part of San Diego and I think it really has become a part of it's character
So true. Unfortunately, they decided to turn NTC San Diego into a strip mall with over-priced townhomes within walking distance. That entire Point Loma area just doesn't have the charm it used to have for me without NTC on Rosecrans.
