Bear with me because I know nothing about football. I will be flying in to see my boyfriend and his son in December. I am trying to think of what I could get them for Christmas. They are both big Charger fans. I thought I could buy them tickets for a game, but looking at the scedule it does not look like any home games after December 16th. I fly in the 15th. Would it be strange to buy us all three tickets and then give them their gift early to go to that December 16th game? Is it better to watch the game at home or to go to a game. Our plans are to watch the game at home. Would that be too soon of notice to want to go to a game? Where are the best places to sit to watch the game? I would want to of course get good seats.
And of course if that is not a good idea, any good ideas for a gift for them?
Thank you

The Holiday Bowl is on December 30, you could buy tickets for that.

Watching a game at home is not a good bet. Three of the last four home games have been blacked out.

I went to the game today. We won 33-25! The atmosphere at this game was awesome! The Chargers better stay here or they will have thousands of heartbroken fans. Our special team needs a lot of work still, but they did better today.

We have 3 million people that live close to the stadium. If you don't count seats to opposing teams what do you think is the actual number of people who use the stadium each year? Maybe a couple hundred thousand?

Do 3 million people care if a couple hundred K people are sad cause they don't have a team to throw money at? Nope.

I like football too, this is just the reality of a special interest situation. Spanos can build his own stadium.

Do you think the Chargers generate any income for local businesses? Maybe if you owned or worked at a restaurant, hotel, or other tourism-related industry you'd feel differently about the Chargers staying in San Diego.

The Dec 16 game is on NFL Network starting at 5:20 pm so it won't be shown locally anyway. You have to subscribe to get this network.

So go for it! Lots of people give tickets ahead of time for games...
