I am looking for a "crunchy granola" kind of pediatrician in the PB or LaJolla area. I want someone that will let me alter my vaccine schedule and not try to give my little people antibiotics every time they have a sniffle... Know anyone?

My advice would be to email Jenny McCarthy and try to get her recommendation. She is a world renowned expert on the topic and knows everything there is to know about all those nasty vaccinations and how to avoid them!

Check with the "crunchy granola" crowd at your local organic health food store.

Wow, what a bunch of snarky comments. I think a delayed vaccine schedule and minimizing antibiotics is hardly "granola" It should really be standard. Since no one is answering you- maybe pick 5 peds in a distance that you are willing drive and call and ask the receptionist the general policies about vaccine schedules. I have found that simply telling the dr. that i don't really want the prescription for the antibiotics ok. (on the circumstance) and do a "wait and see approach." Might also want to pick a few and meet with them.

You might want to check out pediatricians on Yelp.com.

I'm sorry, but people who don't get their kids vaccinated are irresponsible, plain and simple. They not only put their kids in harms way, they endanger everyone around them. It's called "herd immunity".

One of the reasons that Smallpox and Polio have been eradicated in the US is because of vaccination and responsible parenting.

That's just my vent, and no way directed at you MrsNunn.

I know of a recommended one nearby in Hillcrest. Her name is Tami Nakahara, and lots of crunchy moms see her. Here's a thread about her from a crunchy message board: San Diego - supportive pediatrician? - MotheringDotCommunity Community . You can also go straight to this forum on the same website that is specific to CA and Nevada to ask your question: California, Nevada - MotheringDotCommunity

the OP was just talking about a delayed vaccination schedule. It is not fun or probably safe to have kids get 8 shots at once!

Not only that, there are no studies regarding the combined effects of the vaccines.

Seriously.

Think about that.

Everyone insists on giving 8 and 9 lb infants multiple injections of combination drugs, but no one is willing to do a study on what the impact of that is.

Who is being irresponsible here?
