I'm 12 wks pregnant & trying to find a doctor who will only perform a NECESSARY c-section. It's disheartening to hear doctors prep me for a c-section so early in my pregnancy!

I would love to homebirth but would also like the comfort of being in/near a hospital if I need to be transferred due to complications. If someone knows of a hospital that is known for appreciating natural childbirth, that would be most helpful too!

Also on the lookout for a midwife/monitrice who specializes in twin/multiples. I've Googled and read and read and read and haven't come up with anything definitive; hoping a post on here may get me more input!

Thanks!
Alma

Alma, you do not have to ever agree on a C section, and many doctors do not automatically choose them, but with multiple births I think the doctor is just trying to protect you, your babies and himself. Remember we are living a sue happy soiciety.

I am a nurse and big advocate of nurse midwives, natural birth, Bradley method, and all of that!

Have you looked into OB practices that have nurse midwives on staff? Do you currently see a nurse midwife? That should help you to find a hospital (whatever hospitals those midwives practice in) that is more open to natural birth methods. I would also recommend Bradley method classes which help prepare you for natural, drug free birth...much more intensive than your typical lamaze class. My best friend took this class and had a beautiful, natural birth experience and she and her husband raved about the Bradley classes. Also do a little research to see which hospitals have lower C-section rates. A hospital I did clinicals in in Chicago had one of the lowest C-section rates in the city, and I think a lot of it had to do with having nurse midwives on staff. I would think there are other mothers of twins who did not have to have c-sections or a group like that, keep searching. Sorry I could not be more specific but I hope that will set you on a helpful path.

You should get involved with a group called natural baby pros . com (no spaces)... it's a group of natural birthing/living practitioners and there are plenty of resources there to check out. I am in the group (gave birth at best start but had 1 baby)... twin natural birth is completely doable I wish you luck!
