With gas being so expensive, I've started taking my dogs to walk over at Lake Murray rather than taking them out to Fiesta Island. I've been there four or five times now and have always turned around at some point because I can't tell if the paved trail meets back up to the beginning. Is there a trail there that makes a complete loop?

Hi, I have cycled Lake Murray quite a few times. The paved portion ends at a fence with no access around it. The first time I went to the Lake, I was wondering why some of the folks that had passed me on my walk, were coming back the other way around! I thought they were lapping me....it was quite funny to only realized the path is gated at some point.

I believe there is some dam or aqueduct on the other side of the fence and it protected. Not sure but from what I saw at a distance, this seemed to be the case.

No. Lake Murray is a manmade lake with a dam at the Kiowa st. entrance. The dam is closed to pedestrians by a gate on either end. It is a water filtration site. http://www.sandiego.gov/water/gen-info/history.shtml (broken link)

You can circle Lake Miramar if the drive isn't too far from where you're at. That's probably at least a 5 mile walk.
