I'm in Phoenix right now, and my bf and I are thinking of going to cali for a week to enjoy some beach related fun. I have two small dogs and I would like to bring them, but I have never traveled with them before so I don't know anything about where to go beach wise that is ok with dogs.

I was thinking of coranado since it seems to be dog friendly. Are there usually a lot of area for out door dining and such, or should I just have my bf pick up food and bring it back for a beach/hotel picnic?

there is a great dog beach on Coronado. It is about a mile from the Del Coronado hotel (northish)You may want to Google the interwebs to get the exact details. San Diego is insanely dog friendly. So much so I even cringe sometime-dogs in the grocery store, dogs in clothing stores at the mall??-and I am talking on leases not in purses.

You will probably not have a problem taking them out to eat on patios with you. I am guessing you should ask staff first if it is ok. I even see breeds people are wary of like pits and dobbies on patios in hillcrest, north park and beaches.

...and the north end of Del Mar. No problem bringing dogs to restaurants with outdoor seating. Don't miss Cafe Chloe in downtown S.D.

Dogs in grocery stores and restaurants? God is that disgusting. Seriously, just bring fido to a dog park and be done with it. It's not a human child. It's an animal.
