Hi,

My family and I are planning on moving to San Diego from Boston in December or January. Married with 2 kids, and I will be working from home and my husband will be working in the 92127 area. We plan to rent for the first year or 2 until we get a better feel of the place. We will be visiting in October for a week and hoping to be able to find a nice place to settle for when the time comes. Do you know of any good rental agents, as well as safe areas to raise a family that is not too far from where my husband will be working? Ideally we would like a 2 bedroom and our rental budget is about 1200-1700/month.

92127 is Rancho Penasquitos, which is a nice neighborhood that should meet a lot of your needs. It's in Poway Unified School District, which is very desirable. Rents for a 2bdrm in PQ should be in your range no problem.

Some other zips to consider: 92129, 92128, 92064

As for rental agencies, try American Heritage Properties (www.renthomes.com)

My mother used this agent in Encinitas.

Diane Brokaw

162 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd Ste A-30
Encinitas, CA 92024

They should serve this area.

I am not sure Diane is a RE agent any more, but I would give anyone in that office a look. Here are there profiles.

They really went out of their way for her. They even had a car pick her up at the airport to take her to her new home.

Just keep in mind not all of 92127 is in Rancho Penasquitos. It's a fairly large area that runs adjacent from Rancho Santa Fe all the way to Highway 15. I like to use this website to see exact boundaries.

Zip Code Finder and Boundary Map.

But I agree that in Rancho Penasquitos it tends to be more affordable vs. some other parts of 92127 closer to Rancho Santa Fe.

It's a great area. We bought a home in the 92127 area in Santaluz adjacent to Rancho Santa Fe and it's such a great area with great schools. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Good luck.

This is very helpful. This is a very big move and change for us. When we visit in October we will be exploring as much as we can of 92127, 92128 and 92129. But so far after researching, I am really liking 92127 and the biggest plus is that its very close to my husband's work.
