I like the message too. We closed a sizable saving acct today at BOA and noticed a lot of others doing the same. While we are fortunate to have good jobs (heck any job) and savings there are so many people who work just as hard, if not harder, that were not treated real well by BOA because they are lower income or fell on hard times (but BOA execs rec bonuses). Very happy to be back with a credit union. When we moved out here my husband was in a hurry to open an account and just did BOA out of convenience. We were glad to have the incentive to switch back to a credit union.

How would you describe the occupy SD presence? Every city appears to be unique.

I too like the message if for no other reason than the incentive to get people out on the street talking to each other. People need to turn off the media and go outside more IMO. I would like to see the stereotype of "just a bunch of grubby hippies" or "the other half of the tea party" be dispelled.

Walked by on thursday, new office is just down the block. To me it looked to be not much more than a small homeless encampment of Portland-type hippies. Oh and there are about 5 gangsters across the street to supply the drugs.

The "ganstas" may be set up across the street, but are you sure their clients are the kids in the OWS camp?
I agree with the message and as long as it is not co opted by anarchist, I hope they will continue to stand in for me (cuz I've not taken my sorry behind down there to support them). Instead I'm sipping on my glass of wine (Drug of choice) while watching football!!

Makes sense in a way.. San Diego is one of the most prosperous cities in the US, wouldn't expect to find a huge community of 99%'ers there... More like 94%...

here's a pic, they don't look like hippies here. They look like regular people.

I think their numbers swell on the weekends with day-tripper supporters. But the ones doing the occupying, don't seem to have much else to do.

Yep, unemployed, under-employed, scared sh**tless about being let go or totally discouraged in finding employment - thus time on hands or took the time to OWS/San Diego!

You sure about that? All I've been hearing is how broke everyone is around here.
