Hello all!

We are planning a visit to SoCal, and I would esp. like to see the SD Botanic Garden, hopefully sometime next year. When is the best time of year to see the botanic garden? I have always wanted to see the SD Zoo as well. Is there a better time of year to see the zoo, or does it not matter?

I went to the botanic garden website, but the "most frequently asked questions" section was not working.

Any time. It's an extremely well-maintained botanic garden.

Zoo? My favorite visit was on one cloudy, threatening-rainy day. There weren't tons of people, and since the weather was a bit cool more of the animals were out. So ... April/May? Maybe even February/March?

Well, you might want to skip the times when there are summer camps (vacations). They have some fun festivals that you could try to catch. The fairy festival is really nice for young girls.

Being a life-long gardener, I would really enjoy seeing the SDBG. So, anytime of the year would be good to see something in flower? I gotta remember SD is in another climate zone altogether than PA!

Garden-wise, that must be nice!

I'm not a gardener, so I can't comment on whether there's something in flower any time of the year at SDBG. I like to wander there, flowers or not.
