As someone who is allergic to peanuts and some tree nuts, most restaurants I've seen in the So. Cal region are accommodating and most list the ingredients in their menus. Most service staffs are willing to find out if they're uncertain too. Restaurants of all levels seem more aware of food allergies, and at least list if they use peanut ingredients, Five Guys Burgers comes to mind. The only places that do not are some of the Asian-Indian-South Asian restaurants, who sometimes don't even list that they include nuts, or use peanut sauce in their meals. I've learned this the hard way and keep benedryl or a EpiPen handy. You should be ok, just pay attention to the menu's and when in doubt ask.

Ironically, the "nosh" that Five Guys provides is peanuts. I would warn a peanut-allergy person to avoid that.
