Speaking of buggies, we may have had one of these in the house, maybe a cross between a 'robber fly' and a 'hornet robber fly'. It was up to 3 inches in length and had a bit of a cabbose section:

Considering the chorus I hear outside every summer, I'm surprised there aren't more lizards roaming around here. They'd be fat and happy for sure.

This thread made me laugh! My friend found a tarantula in her bathroom in Santee the other day! She stayed calm and collected and scooped it up and put it outside. I would have been freaking out and I wouldn't want to touch it at all. Big insects freak me out. I can't help it.

I think you'll be fine, my friend.

I'm not particularly bothered by bugs . . . but my reaction to this thing was the mix of revulsion, fear and fascination that seems to be the usual reaction. But after reading a bit more about these basically harmless creatures and some of the things that prey on THEM (the movie Aliens comes to mind), I kinda feel sorry for them.
I had a pet raccoon and they eat everything. He turned his nose up at potato bugs. He ate June bugs like candy, the potato bug was not on his menu I guess.

Oh, gross. Many years ago one of my classmates told the rest of us that those things can be fun to play with as pets. I'll pass. I'm a total city girl, can't handle those.... I've been through enough bug infestations that I'm hypersensitive to things like this. Some people become used to it, but not me.

Yeah, everyone's told me to just bleach the heck out of my clothing and be done with it.
