I've been in the situation of buying to avoid renting. We really regretted it. On paper the community was great, and most neighborhoods were wonderful, but our was an enclave of a isolationist type religious sect who shunned us. Especially me, a vile women. We had a hell of a time selling the place too, because we had sullied it in the minds neighbors in the strict religious order. Luckily another out of town sucker who didnt want to rent bought it. You might think about packing and storing all but the basic necessities for a short term rental so the moving process will be somewhat less tortuous.

There was a time when my husband and I got away with buying and selling places we did not live in long everywhere we went with a profit or break even, but those days are gone, at least for the time being. We're ready to grow old in our place,at least until we can't hobble up the stairs anymore
