Coronado, la Jolla shores come to mind. It depends where you live.

Yep. La Jolla, Del Mar, Coronado...all really family friendly beaches. What's nice about Coronado is they have stores/ice cream shops, etc. right there at the hotel if you want to buy something. At Del Mar they have that Snack Shop (Home Page ) near the main lifeguard station. It makes it VERY easy if you are with young kids as they have sandwiches, burgers, ice cream, chips, drinks, snacks, etc. Plus plenty of showers and public restrooms right there in front of the Snack Shack.

We mostly go to Del Mar as it's close to our house and that snack shack makes it VERY easy with kids.

Moonlight Beach, at the foot of Encinitas Boulevard, is pretty hard to beat for families. Big wide sandy beach, free parking (hear that Del Mar? Free!) And, they just wrapped a big renovation of the snack bar and restrooms, which admittedly had gotten pretty nasty. The new beach is a real gem. Come check it out!

Yeah, that's a great beach as well. You're right that it's great that they have that free parking lot at the top of the hill. But to be fair, I don't typically pay for parking in Del Mar. I almost always have found a spot on the street driving around in the neighborhoods. Sometimes you have to wait a bit but even in the summer usually I've been able to snag spots in the street.

That's GREAT to hear that they have renovated the restrooms there! As you mentioned, it was pretty nasty. It's a beautiful beach. You will see lots of professional photographers taking family pictures there. We got ours there a few years ago. Gorgeous beach.

I'm partial to Del Mar beach and Fletcher's Cove. It has a decent crowd and its not littered with bikini toting estrogen oozing babes eyeing testosterone pumping beach boys who in turn instantly reduce their IQ to two digits to try to score (PB and OB)

We love La Jolla Shores beach for the following reasons:

- Easy parking (assuming you're going early because of kids nap times, etc)
- Play structure right on the beach
- Grassy area for picnic lunches
- Lots of things to see/watch at the cove.. surfers, kayakers, scubadivers, etc.

Del Mar beach is great also, especially because a train goes by every once in a while. For our boys, beach + playground + trains is the ultimate experience.
