Voluntary day at the office in Rancho Bernardo to not come in due to air quality issues.

Spent the afternoon downtown and at home. From here it doesn't even seem like there are these huge fires going on. Crazy.

Our other place in Murrieta is getting that orange sky and the air quality is pretty bad. Can't imagine it will be too great for a few days at least.

Default Are the Carlsbad and San Marcos fires contained?

Our friend who lives inTemecula went to work in Kearny Mesa today but gave no details on status of fires in North County, my old home. It's hard to find detailed news out of state. Are the fires contained?

In Fallbrook....our house is surrounded by heavy smoke. This afternoon it looked like it was raining ash. Made me extremely nervous, thinking a spark could start something going. Winds changed so many directions, the smoke just circled around. At one point, the smoke almost completely blocked the sun. Very eerie. Hoping they can get the 3 Pendleton fires under control soon.

As of Friday morning:

Cocos fire is at 3,018 acres and 10% contained
Bernardo fire is 1,548 acres and 90% contained
Tomahawk fire (Pendleton) is 6,300 acres and 23% contained
Las Pulgas fire (Pendleton) is 8,000 acres and 5% contained
Poinsettia fire (Carlsbad) is 400 acres and 85% contained

Add to that, a third Pendleton Fire. The Talega Fire, last count I heard 800 acres, 0% contained.

This just in: The Talega Fire is now being named the San Mateo Fire (Combat Fire) that was reported at 11:24 a.m. today has burned 800 acres and is currently listed as 25% contained.
