This extreme opulence is what is wrong and unamerican about this country (and city).
The 1%.
Zero surprise, it's creepy Papa Doug Manchester.
You know not to support those un-Reagan GOP treasonous clowns yesterday.

What extreme opulence? That place looks like a hut compared to some places in Beverly Hills!

Wealth does not equal inner peace or contentment. Look at Bernie sanders if you want a socialist candidate.

Bernie Sanders is a democratic socialist in the mold of FDR. This is what America needs now IMO and most Americans agree with his policies according to polls.

A fair percentage of Americans are beyond stupid. Zero skills. Can't do math, can't read above a grade school level. Many don't believe in evolution, and couldn't tell you the difference between a proton and a protozoa. Our citizens are educationally outclassed by nearly every other modern democratic country across the planet. But hey, at least these lazy adults and their stupid kids (which they can't afford) know intimately the Real Housewives, the Kardashians, and the starting roster of their city's NFL team.

America needs socialist policies? See how well that's worked in Cuba, Russia, etc.

Finally, if you don't like who's buying the Copley property -- put in a bid. Put your money where your mouth is.

Yes, America needs socialist policies. See how well that's working in France, England, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark? See how well that worked in post-depression USA?

Laughable. France is a disaster, with out-of-control tax rates, massive deficits, and it's only a matter of time before it implodes like Greece. And Spain will be next. Two basket cases going down in flames, just like socialist Greece has already imploded.

Particularly telling is your reliance on Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. What do all of these countries have in common? Very tight immigration policies, very strict import/export policies as well. It's fair to say their native populations basically hate immigrants -- and I don't think that is necessarily bad. Further, Norway is a fossil fuel powerhouse, and its sovereign wealth fund imputes a whopping $1 million net worth to each and every citizen. If you got this kind of control in the USA, where the lazy breeders and criminal element are deported en mass, and you have an educated populace, you may have a point. But the US isn't even in the same galaxy as the countries you reference.

The United States is bankrupt, and by almost any yardstick you care to employ, our citizenry is exceedingly mediocre and grossly deficient in math and science. All that remains is for the red ink to drown all of us. Oh sure, the Fed has its finger on that all-important print button. The sobering truth is, printing is the only backstop. The only backstop (see QE 1, QE 2, QE 3, QE 4). And the socialist utopia you pine for is going to devalue everything you've worked for into oblivion.

Yeah, see how well they worked in Detroit, Baltimore, & Greece. Most countries aren't like Sweden & Denmark...and simply creating a bunch of socialist policies doesn't change the underlying greedy/corrupt mindset of the people (it isn't only the rich who are infected by greed, btw). The reasons it works better in those countries is because the people are not as stupid, greedy, or corrupt as people in America & the rest of the world. You can't impose such policies from the top down in a corrupt political system like America's and expect them to work. FYI, I don't things are working all that well in France or England, either. And the Scandinavian countries have some major property bubbles going on that rival America's circa 2007, although they do seem to be more proactive in addressing the situation (so far).

This is the road to serfdom. Get people hooked on security and to believe the only way to get it is to centralize power and control. Then when it doesn't work, just tell them they need to vote for more of the same and tell them "it will be different this time". As long as you can get people to believe in an outer savior of some sort or other, you can manipulate them and centralize more and more power and control.
