I think there was a thread similar to this but I missed it...sorry.

What is the consensus with parking for over 8 hours/overnight at a South bay Trolley stop ? I know someone who says police constantly check them and with lighted platforms you are safe.

Also can someone tell me when would be an ideal time to find parking space ?

I can never find parking next to the Coaster in Encinitas unless it is the middle of the night. Same thing in South Bay ?

Thanks

I've never heard of the police checking the South Bay parking lots constantly. The only one that I would consider parking overnight is the one at Palomar Street, which is next to a Food4Less.

Parking at any Trolley station is limited to 24 hours. Vehicles parked in excess of 24 hours may be ticketed and towed at the your expense.
There is no overnight parking for RVs or campers. Street or paid parking may be available at stations not listed here.

The names, addresses and number of parking spaces are on the MTS website.

^ Thanks. Who knows that cars have been there for longer than 24 hours ? Are there meter maids who come around to write down license plate numbers ?

In general how do these complexes or even malls in San Diego monitor how long a car has been there ?

What times are good to park on Palomar St. And which times aren't easy to find a space ?

Thanks

I've never seen any meter people writing down license plate numbers. I used to park there all day when I would go to TJ, and never had a problem. I've gotten a parking place during the day without a problem.

Someone told me that you can get a permit to park for multiple days at a trolley station. Does anyone know where to inquire about these permits and how much they would cost ?

There was nothing about permits on the MTS website, so you may want to call them and ask about it. Don't base what you heard from someone else, call MTS to get the correct answer to your questions. I just checked again, and there's nothing about permits.

Have you considered just leaving your car at home and taking Uber to and from the Trolley? That way you won't have to worry, and the peace of mind would be worth the Uber fare to me.

Yes thanks but I need access to my truck for a few reasons. Nothing beats zooming out of TJ when you really need to get back home.
