I am a parent of a high functioning autistic boy age 11. We currently live in New York City and have a great school set up. My son is in a class ratio of 8:1:2 and is provided school until he turns 21. I wanted to know if they are schools in Chula Vista or San Diego that offer this set up.

Chula Vista schools are part of the Sweetwater Union School District. I'd suggest giving their special education department a call to discuss your son's specific needs and their services directly; you'll get more reliable information that way. Here's a link to the Sweetwater Special Ed website: Special Services

Do you need to be based in the South Bay (i.e., Chula Vista) for some reason? If you would be open to other parts of San Diego County, the La Mesa Spring Valley School District just north of Chula Vista, the Poway Unified School District and the San Dieguito School District, both in North San Diego County, have good special ed services, so you might also want to contact them to discuss your son's needs.

The San Diego Unified School District is the largest in the county, but special ed services can be more problematic and they've had some turmoil in recent years. Still, it wouldn't hurt to call their special ed department as well to discuss their programs and your son's needs.

You may also find these two packets of information helpful: http://www.disabilityrightsca.org/pubs/504001Ch01.pdf
http://www.lao.ca.gov/reports/2013/e...mer-010313.pdf

Although you are already familiar with the Federal regulations, the above explain some of the California state laws regarding disability education rights, and might be helpful to read through before you get in contact with districts.

Good luck with your move.

If I can ask, what made you choose Chula Vista?
