Nice, another gift from Ch-y-na

From what I've been noticing, yes.
But they don't actually seem as prevalent this year as last, which is weird since it was so wet for so many months in a row. Last year and the one before, I'd get attacked even in the middle of the day. They weren't just buzzing around in the evening. This year, I don't see them until right before sunset which is more normal behavior.

Yeah it hasn't been terrible this year. I think that's because we've had pretty low humidity thanks to cooler ocean water. That really helps keep the population down, even though all that rain would have otherwise contributed to a big explosion.

I don't think San Diego was ever devoid of mosquitoes, it just ebbs and flows a bit from you to you. Where I grew up in Northern California, we had tons and tons of mosquitoes in our backyard all summer long, and it was a total nightmare. That was back in the '80s. So mosquitoes aren't exactly new to California, if that's what ppl are thinking

We never had them until about 5 years ago. Now it's like we live in the South.

Apparently it is No-see-ums…yes I used to brag to friends and family back East that I enjoy the outdoors at dusk with no mosquitoes anymore until probably 2-3 years ago.

A typical mosquito you can hear and see…these dang things nothing at all until you are inside hours later and you have a batch itchy bites on your feet and ankles.

I also noticed that starting this year they bite all day, even at high noon, not just st twilight, making it difficult to enjoy a key benefit of SD.

I literally have a bug light (zapper) in my house because they get inside. Kids are so used to just leaving the sliding door open after all these years of zero bug issues.

I hear that thing snap daily.

Since my driveway is gated and my house is away from the street we simply leave our vehicle windows open... not anymore. They like to hide out in there when it gets sunny and hot and if I roll up the windows and turn on the AC when I start driving they come up from under the seats and start biting me. LOL

With nighttime temps dropping and drier days now as we get more typical fall Santa Ana weather, I figured the mosquito issue would start to subside. But nope. These little turds are hearty.
