I share your horror, but with a decent sized house, family of five all watching tv's, computers, ebikes, lights (that kids never turn off), etc that's the way it is.

Mine always doubles in the cold months, it's the gas heater and fireplace. Used to be gas was a cheap power source, not anymore.

Nowadays, gas has to pay for all of those carbon offset credits.

It's still cheap-ish, just not in California.

Mine is going to be outrageous because there's an industrial sized dehumidifier running in my kitchen due to the flooding in it last week.

What do you got, TESLA COILS in your garage/workshop?!?

Buy a Kill-a-Watt at Harbor Freight and figure out what's doing it.

Spend $350 on all LED (NOT CPF NOT fluorescent) light bulbs

It could save you $1000/yr

you can see my usage is similar to GuyinSD but you pay twice as much from SDG&E as I pay from Edison. Dont tell Edison or they're jack me up to the same costs.

I set the thermostat to 72F at night and I'm about sick of the sauna treatment. I woke up this morning with dry eyes and face. When I get my big gas bill for December I will back it on down to 68F and wear sweatpants to bed.
