I’m not sure you’re getting a used jet ski for $500 these days, at least one that runs? Regardless, they’re a huge PITA to store, launch, and clean with each use. Plus you have gas, maintenance, registration, and possible storage fees. Unless you plan on using them all the the it’s just easier to rent them once in a blue moon.

I’ve had more friends over the years buy used jet skis, ski boats, small sailboats and catamarans because of high rental fees and the story always plays out the same. They use them in the beginning, then it becomes too much of a hassle that they just end up mostly sitting there in their drive (or paid rental yard) before selling them at a lose a couple of years later.

This Man Know what He is Talking About, Please read this twice before you think about buying a Boat, Jet Skis Ect...
In my situation, I'm lucky my brother has Jet Skis. But i had to drive all the way to Carlsbad because, that's where my brother lives. Then drive all the way back down to mission bay, launch the Jet Skis, not very easy, one of them wouldn't start initially, although i think my son was doing something wrong. Rode them all Day,
put them back on the trailer when we were done, another PITA. I then had to take them back to my house in La Mesa, Wash them, clean them ect... I will have to, at some point, drive the Jets skis back up to Brothers house in Carlsbad soon.
At this Point id Rather of paid the $200

It was just sort of a joke. My wife and I were going to get two new Waverunners with trailer a few years back. It was not a cheap project and we didn't do it.

However, when I tell the neighbor kid that I bought something for $1000, his comeback is always "You could have bought the same thing on Craigslist for $100." Rarely do I buy anything on Craigslist. Except maybe for specialty talent.
