Not only does San Diego have a nice skyline, but there's a lot of street life downtown as well. They have an excellent entertainment district called the Gaslamp District, which is adjacent to a downtown MLB ballpark. The convention center is very nice. They have a decent downtown mall. They have a nice Little Italy area. Plus, there is a trolley (light rail) system which connects all of downtown together, and connects downtown to the rest of the city. I've always been impressed with our neighbor to the south.

I know, while it is very convenient for those that live in the central part of the county to get to and for tourists heading to downtown, it severely limits how tall building can be built downtown. Plus that is such a prime location, I would much rather see it filled with nice dense development b/c the views of downtown along the road leading to and from the airport are really nice.

despite the airport it's still a beautiful skyline. i love skylines that are along a body of water.

I think the odd nature of the airport adds some flavor to the city. Every time I fly that approach, I savor the moment. You just have to be in the cockpit to appreciate it to the fullest

not only does it add flavor but it also adds a 500 ft. height limit to downtown buildings.
