The best community college in terms of number of classes offered, number of subjects offered, with more of a real college feel is San Diego Mesa College in Clairemont Mesa. Miramar college in Mira Mesa has a good compliment of classes if not the same breadth that Mesa offers. Miramar has more of a work in progress feel to it but they make a real effort to offer classes at different times from Mesa and they're only 10-15 minutes away from each other so as long as you have a car it should be easy to go back and forth depending on your schedule. There are four campuses in the San Diego Community College District (Mesa, Miramar, City, and... I think Southwest) so all you have to do is register with SDCC and you can attend any class at any of the four colleges without any problems.

There are shared rooms in houses everywhere in San Diego.

A good place to look is the pennysaver.

Sometimes you can find a really good deal where you share a house and your part of the rent is only 350-400 dollars and you have the use of the house.

Bargains are everywhere.

This is the best book for deals in San Diego.

Sally Gary

I hunt at all the thrift stores for inexpensive clothing, books, etc.

Asian supermarkets, Fresh and Easy, North Park Grocery, Hispanic grocery stores.

Find free things to do: take a hike or walk I love Torrey Pines it is only 6 or 8 bucks, go to the Balboa Museums on Tuesdays they are free, free concerts in the parks in the summers, high school sports are very cheap to watch most are free, ride your bike, picnics, rent a kayak, etc, etc.

So much to do here in San Diego and the weather to do it.

Get out and enjoy!

I live in Chula Vista.

They have a farmers market every Thursday from 3-7PM.

A lot of thrift stores in town too.

Garage sales are always fun.

You might want to check SDSU, UCSD, and other colleges in their housing departments and find a graduate student that may be looking for room mates. They are good to have since they are in class most of the time.

Also, check out HousingMaps. It's essentially craigslist ads, but placed on a map!

I think it's more like a 40 minute drive and 35 miles driving distance between Oceanside and the Mira Mesa area.
