Whatever the fine is, you'll forget about it over time. The bigger lesson for you is that you might want to be more skeptical of those friends of yours in the future. If you had listened to your conscience, you wouldn't have gotten into trouble.

I say all of that with a friendly tone. I don't want to come across like I'm shaming you.

There should be a phone number on the citation; call it for the fine.

Haha, that sucks. In my experience they check towards the end of the lines, by Old Town and San Ysidro.

They don't know how much the fine will be. You have to wait for your letter to come in the mail. I got one when I first moved to SD in 2002, and it was $110. I went to court and the judge reduced it to $10. I think they're around $180-$200 now.

I know the Coaster is like $250 fine so I think the trolley might be in that range now too.

I had two citations for not having a ticket back in 2001.I used to do it all the time because I would go skateboarding in DTWN SD.Both where about $125 each.Like many said before "Ride at your own risk".For the time of 2007-2008 I always had a ticket and about every week someone was getting a citation.

Also now more than before you might want to have a ticket on you. With the MTS Cops getting robbed, shot, and beat up they might take out there anger with deploying more MTS cops just to wright tickets because they might be feeling they are loosing "control" of the trolley lines when it comes to safety.

I "snuck" on at City College on the Blue Line and immediately got busted. They took me off at Fifth Ave. and wrote me a citation right there. I was on the Trolley for about three minutes and got charged $174.00. I went before a Judge, pleaded guilty and got it reduced to $100.00. But since I didn't have enough money to pay right then, I got put on a monthly pay plan which cost an extra $35.00. So my three minute Trolley ride ended up costing $135.00. I will never, NEVER be caught without a pass again.
