I am moving there with a a friend for job relocation. We both are in our mid 20's and wondering if it is mostly family oriented? Looking to live near the beach, is it a fun place to live for a few young professionals?

I would say its mostly family oriented. Carlsbad Village I hear has some nightlife but I don't go out up there to go out so I can't really comment on it. I prefer areas farther south as Carlsbad is a little too family oriented for me.

Default carlsbad

If I am living in carlsbad, and don't want too far of a commute each day, where would you recommend I live?

Encinitas would probably be the place I would choose to live IF i had to live in NC. How long of a commute do you want? I work in Carlsbad but live in Pacific Beach.

how is pacific beach compared to carlsbad? I am starting to think carlsbad is def more family oriented, which is ok but I would like to live in an area that has SOME nightlife but also safer too. Any suggestions?

PB is a LOT younger and more party atmosphere, some might find it too young. I'm 26 and still like it b/c its more vibrant and interesting than many other areas. I don't go to the whole Garnett Ave bar/club scene too much like a lot of the college aged crowd do. There are more chill bars with a older, more laid back crowd off of Garnett. North PB is better for older young professionals imo. It takes me about 45-60 min total from door to door for my commute, not too much traffic (summer is worse than the rest of the year) but its just the distance. If you hate commuting then I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, I don't mind it though but that's me.

I think downtown Encitinas or Carlsbad Village provides some nightlife and could work for YOU but overall it's just not MY scene, too quiet and suburban. I do have several coworkers my age that live in Encinitas and like it, they seem to enjoy the bars/nightlife there.
