Congratulations to Sam Chammas, owner/developer of the Station Tavern and Burgers in South Park. It took quite a while for this to come to fruition but the architecture is indeed very creative and a great addition to our neighborhood.

Orchid award goes to tiny eatery

Sam has a knack for providing those social places that bind a community together, this has a great family feel to it with a kid's play yard and wide openings right on the street/sidewalk. Good architecture can truly make the difference.

While this was going up I was thinking an "Orchid" was deserving.

Bravo to Sam and the architects! (sorry- don't know the names but I'm sure you will be getting great press).

South Park is really coming into it's own! My neighborhood of Kensington seems downright dowdy these days...lol

Haven't made to Station yet, but have heard good things. Alchemy, Vagabond, El Camino, Rebecca's, that ice cream place (?) are all great. Next on my list is Counterpoint, which just opened recently in Golden Hill. Been there yet?

Hey sdurbanite- yeah I'm not even sure I'm cool enough to live here anymore hehe.

Haven't been to Counterpoint yet either but have had some neighbors who said its nice- I like the contemporary building, I just noticed that it too had received a well deserved orchid. Ice cream place in South Park is called The Daily Scoop, yuk yuk.

And... the official Orchid and Onions site (I am amazed at how many people looked at me with a completely blank stare when I was telling them about this, so...) and pictures of this great little building.

Went to Counterpoint on Friday night and, as expected, it was full of pretty people drinking local craft beer. Didn't realize it was on 2 floors. Friendly staff, but it was a bit loud. Hope it does well.
