I am gonna be out in San Diego later this month and would like to stop in Little Italy for dinner. Can anyone recommend an authentic Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Thanks in advance.

It's hard to find a bad Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Just walk India St between Hawthorn and Ash till you find something you like. Here's a walking map: Little Italy San Diego (http://littleitalysd.com/WalkingMap.asp - broken link)

If you're looking for a burger and beer in Little Italy, here's my favorite place: Untitled Document
The Waterfront is on Kettner between Hawthorn and Grape.

Wrong. It is mediocre and disappointing.

I may give Arrividerci in Hillcrest (same owners) a chance though. Going to try Volares in the Sports Arena area on Barnett.

If you do try Buon Appetito, I recommend the seafood linguine or the lobster ravioli. Both for less than $20 a plate. And their wines are excellent. Mmm... so good.

I have had hit and miss experiences with nearly all of them.

- had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Zagarella's, it was decent
- have gone to Cafe Zucchero many times, hit and miss
- had a very mediocre experience at Buon Appetito
- have had several good experiences at Arrivederci in Hillcrest

San Diego's Little Italy is plastic and fake, the best place for Italian food though, is probably Fillipi's or Lido's in Lemon Grove off Broadway.

Some of those fancy restaurants are just overpriced crappy finger food, stick to the hole in the walls like Fillipi's.

San Diego is crappy for Italian food. Great for Mexican food, but haven't found a decent Italian place... Sad to say I would prefer Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden... and that is sad.

Friends say they like Godfathers... I think that is in Kearny Mesa... although I have also heard it is overpriced for what you actually get.

LoL... I have to actually say I make better Italian than I've had here... My Garlic Cream Sauce is hands down better than anything I've tasted here. DM me for the recipe... I might be nice enough to give it

Godfathers is just like Pizza Hut. Anothe chain. And their pizzas are crappy. There's a place on Morena Blvd and right before the main post office in Point Loma that are good. But I don't remember the names of them at this time.
