My Fiance and I are thinking about moving to San Diego. We are in our late 20's. We currently live in NYC. I have a couple of questions.

1-Is it true that San Diego is one of the nicest places in America?

2-Is the weather really 65-85 degrees year round?

3-What would be a good location you would recommend to us?

4-How is the job market there?

Anything else we should know? Thanks!

> 1-Is it true that San Diego is one of the nicest places in America?

Yes. Nice people too.

> 2-Is the weather really 65-85 degrees year round?

Yes, on the coast. A little warmer inland.

> 3-What would be a good location you would recommend to us?

You haven't provided enough info.

> 4-How is the job market there?

Not good.

> Anything else we should know? Thanks!

This place ain't nothing like NYC. You may be in for a culture shock.

Jobs are hard to come by right now. If you do plan to come, have a very large chunk of money saved up to hold you for quite a while.

I doubt I would move with out a job lined up. I am an accountant and my fiance is in human resources.

My Dream is to be in the nice weather, and buy a waverunner. How much is it to rent a 1 bedroom apartment close to the ocean. Is the ocean weather better then inland weather?

What's your rental budget? You need to provide us with more details before you get the information that you need. Also, search the other posts for move/moving to San Diego. You'll find more detailed information on what you're looking for. You can also search for Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Mission Beach.

Right not we pay $1,515 a month. So something close to that (give or take a couple hundred).

Check out Craigslist in the areas that I listed above. That will give you a general idea.

Thanks! They all seem like they would work in our budget. Out of those places (Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Mission Beach) Which is the nicest? Also are they far from the city? Thanks!

Depends on what you are looking for, Pacific beach is more of the 20-30's crowd that are looking to party every weekend, lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance, It has the boardwalk at the beach and it gets pretty busy during the summer. Ocean beach is a little more laid back and alternative than that, still has bars and restaurants that you can walk to but it also has a lot of homeless people living there. Mission beach is between the 2 and it has some bars and restaurants etc. All of the places suck for getting in and out of as far as traffic. I lived in OB for the last 5 years with my gf and now wife, we loved the laid back atmosphere but it seemed like the homeless people were getting to be more and more. We lived by a few churches and some of them would do the free dinners once a week and that would draw them to the area. I am all about taking care of the homeless but it just seemed like their were more and more of them. It all depends on what you are looking for.

North PB is a nice area for a young couple.

Here's sample North PB rental: FURNISHED STUDIO IN PACIFIC BEACH (http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/apa/1527166649.html - broken link)
The beach is a short walk. Restaurants are close too.
