Yeah that's pretty cheap for retail pricing but go to hotwire.com and book through them. I've gotten some crazy deals that way. You should be able to get a 2 star (clean but no frills motel) for that.

Having the Internet these days is like having a cellphone, even though I don't have one. I still try to find cheap rate hotels. I found a Motel 6 for $35 north of L.A. when I came down to visit San Diego.
To the OP, try getting some of those travel coupon books that have a bunch of hotel coupons. I've actually seen some nice hotels for less than $50/night.

Motel 6 is the way to go if you don't want to go with Priceline. I think the cheapest Motel 6s are in and around El Cajon.

Check out some of the motels between North Park and 54th St on El Cajon Blvd....
There should be a few around $39......in fact, some might rent by the hour!
