I feel like taking a Sunday drive somewhere not too far from Oakland. What scenic areas do you guys like to cruise around?

Go out Skyline Blvd towards Hayward, and turn left at Redwood Rd. Follow that into the woods. Cool ride. You can either continue on Redwood Road to end up at the back of Castro Valley, and have dinner somewhere there and catch the freeway home OR turn up Pinehurst. That will take you on curvy curvy road with some pull outs to look over the Chabot Reservoir. At some point you will hit another turn -- you can turn up Canyon Rd and come out at Moraga, and work your way to a freeway, OR you can stay on Pinehurst, which takes you past a wee little non town called Canyon. Kinda neat.

Do try the drive Tallysmom recommended. You can drive through the redwoods which are especially nice around Canyon.almost made me miss the Bay Area!

Me too! Much nicer drive than Tilden anyway, because Tilden's vegetation is substantially non-native, while this drive is mostly the real deal.
