I just graduated from UC Irvine about 2 months ago and I'm relocating to San Francisco for a consulting job. My firm is tiny, but it pays really well so I want to find a way to network outside of work.

I've lived in Irvine (SoCal) for the last 15 years so its a tough decision for me to give up pretty much everything to move to the city. I'm not an antisocial guy, I was in a frat, studied abroad, NCAA athlete. But I don't really know many people in Norcal and its going to be hard to completely adjust to a city from a suburb.

Anyways, what I'm asking for is some advice from the stress of relocating to an unknown area knowing pretty much no one.

Also what college or recent grad organizations are available in the SF area? Any great way to network with people my age (age 22)?

Just looking for advice and some guidelines since I still want to be in the college atmosphere and I want to meet people my age.

Try the Commonwealth Club's Inforum basically a discussion group for young people who are interested in learning more about the world, politics and lots of other topics. Also get involved, try Meetup.com

Also look up your alumni association (UCI) and try to find some local contacts. There's got to be plenty of UCI grads in the Bay Area.

You don't have to be a grad of the Berkeley campus to join the Cal Alumni Association. They have lots of activities for members that will offer some great networking opportunities in the Bay Area and elsewhere. Would really be great if you lived in Berkeley as you'd have access to tons of campus and near-campus activities associated with the university. Here's the link:

How to Join | CAA

I'm an alum of both campuses.

Check out kickball.com

Really fun, awesome social group to get involved with. They have a bunch of leagues in the city as well.
