I am going to be visiting your area from August 31st to Labor Day and want to know what I must see. I am attending a wedding that Friday and have plans for Saturday and during the day Sunday but other than that I free to explore. I am already doing a wine tour on Sunday and I want to see Alcatraz.

For one thing make sure you get your Alcatraz tickets now, they sell out fast especially for weekends and holidays.

I would recommend, the usual of course, like Fishermans Wharf and China Town. Other than that you should wander over to Marin County and see both Saulsilito (spelling) and Muir Woods, they are almost musts as well as Golden Gate Park. There are several websites that should give you ideas, but between what you are already planning the the things listed that will pretty much take up your time. Another fun thing is to go to the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel or it used to a fun thing.
