I'm moving to the area and I'll be working at AT&T Park, second shift. I know nothing about the area and I'm trying to decide whether to drive or take public transportation.

Is there any free parking on side streets nearby? How safe would it be to walk alone in the area at 11PM? Any other tips?

Thanks

It's mostly condos and restaurants. Should be pretty safe but might feel kind of desolate, though you can say that about anywhere in SF, it's a city that shuts down early.

I'm contemplating moving to that neighborhood too. Warehouse feel, new condos/restaurants has a bit a of an industrial feel. Reminds me of my old neighborhood in Tribeca.

One thing I don't like are the width of the roads and traffic going through. Also get used to swarms of Giants fans.

Free parking? Not a lot. It is very congested there. Especially on game days or commute hours. Take transit.

It is pretty dead there when baseball season is over.

I'd love to live in that part of town. Don't count on finding free parking though. Enjoy!

Parking there sucks. Beyond that it's a safe, yupped out, over priced, sort of sterile area with lots of new or newer construction (used to be a warehouse, rail yard, industrial area when I was a kid, rezoned to housing, small biz, and small start up offices). Even places that look old on the outside were essentially gutted and rebuilt from the inside out. If that's your comfort zone, it will meet your needs well.

I agree, 100%...you won't find a native living down there, that's for sure...
