Still love California though
Does Hawaii have temperate rainforests? Redwood trees? Bristlecone pine forests? Low and high deserts? A huge flat delta? A 300-mile-long mountain range with year-round snow? A big, deep alpine lake? Ski resorts? Large areas below sea level?

I rest my case.

Actually, there are redwood trees on Maui and there are also pine forests on the Big Island. California doesn't have any tropical rainforests or shield volcanoes either. Let's not even discuss CA beaches vs. Hawaiian beaches, since it's a silly argument.

California is also far larger than Hawaii, and much older geographically, but I'll concede it has more of a diverse landscape. BOTH places are incredibly beautiful, for many different reasons.

Personally, I think Hawaii is the most beautiful place I've ever been, but California is certainly no slouch either (Yosemite, Tahoe, Big Sur, Death Valley, etc).

There are actually desert areas in Hawaii, not far from tropical rainforests that get hundreds of inches of rain a year either. Areas on the leeward side of the islands can get less than 10" of rain a year, I believe Kona only gets around 5". CA definitely offers more diversity overall, which should be expected given the vast size differences, but Hawaii offers much more diversity over an equal amount of area in CA would. The Big Island is particularly a very diverse island.

Not too many places in the world where you can be swimming in 80 degree water and staring up at a snow capped mountain. I'm more of a warm weather/beach type person so Hawaii's scenery appeals to me more.

Well, of course Hawaii is lovely (I lived there myself for 3 years) but I continue to believe that California has much more diversity -- both geographically and people-wise. California gets gold, Hawaii gets silver.

I still disagree with you people-wise- Hawaii is a majority-minority state that's never had a white majority.

But CA has a much wider variety of ethnic neighborhoods. We have Chinatowns, Japantowns, and Koreatowns (all of which are also present in Hawaii), but we also have neighborhoods, if not entire cities, that are predominantly Armenian, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Russian, Italian, Arab, Afghani, or Persian, or of course African-American or Latino (variously Mexican, Central American, or South American).

Hawaii has paniolos and lavosh bread, but that's about it as far as non-Asian, non-local, and non-haole influences go.

There's also close to 40 million people in CA too

Hawaii certainly can't compete with the sheer size of CA, but it's an incredibly beautiful and diverse place. I'll just leave it

You couldn't get me to move to AZ even if my life depended on it. It's hot, desert, and extremely conservative. The folks in Arizona won't be happy until all Latinos (not just illegals) are shipped out of state. California may not be perfect but we're more accepting of diversity than Arizona is.
What nonsense. You have no idea what you're talking about. As far as California goes with its problems with illegals, we all see how well that's working out!

What part of that statement is incorrect?

Didn't AZ pass legislation making it legal to stop anyone who 'looked' like an illegal immigrant?

Seems pretty anti-Hispanic to me...

No, they have to have a reason to stop you to begin with then at that point if they suspect you're illegal can they question it. Not having a license could be a good indication.
