I'm going to be in SF checking out USF law but on saturday, my brother is going to join me in the city (he goes to a university in the bay area). I'll be staying with a friend the other nights, but Saturday night me and him are going to a hotel.

What do you recommend? I recognize that it's expensive, but it's SF....and about $300 is the limit.

Any tips will be very appreciated!

The Hotel Tomo and Hotel Kabuki in Japantown are pretty nice and are sort of near USF.

Try The Palace. $200 and near transit, plus it's historic and beautiful.

I got a good deal on Hotel Kabuki on Booking.com a year ago. Not a bad location if you like Japantown and it's got a cool Japanese feel to it.

Prices fluctuate dramatically due to changing demand. Except when something is going on like America's Cup week, you can usually find an excellent hotel under $300. My favorites are up on Nob Hill (the Mark Hopkins, the Fairmont, the Huntington, and the Stanford Court) because of the amazing views and the absence of annoying homeless people, but the Palace is also a good choice. Look on one of the discount travel web site for deals.

Also check out Hotel Drisco. It is sort off the beaten path for tourists, but is located in Pac Heights and you would be able to enjoy what local millionaires do. Gorgeous ocean views and mansions in the neighborhood as well.

Beware, the Palace charges $45-50 for daily parking.
