Fresno's fine.

There are many SE Asians in Fresno. Quite a few Japanese around also, and a smattering of Koreans amongst others.

So who eats at the Hunan restaurant--non-Asians?

There are a lot of Chinese in Berkeley, and Westerners who have been to China or Taiwan. A couple of the restaurants there serve a traditional northern Chinese breakfast on weekends: hot soy bean milk with various breads to dunk in it, and meat-filled pastries. I guess Fresno doesn't have that.

I'll give it a try next time I head out to Santa Cruz, via Monterey, where they have one. Too bad they don't have one in Needles, haha! I have to drive through Needles from NM to get to the Bay. It would make that long, dull desert drive worthwhile.

One opened in Emeryville a few weeks ago.

Not impressed with Bette's. the food wait time ratio was off for me. It wasn't good enough for a 2 hour wait in the weekends.

That's called Bill's Cafe. Great place. They have 2 locations, one in Willow Glen, and another one near the Rose Garden and O'Connor Hospital, on the corner of Bascom and Naglee Avenues.

If it's the same Chinese Restauraunt I'm thinking of in Fresno, it has amazing food. Their string beans are amazing, and great chinese chicken salad.
