If you could live anywhere in the Bay Area, where would it be? You can choose a city, neighborhood, etc. Doesn't matter.

While there are tons of great choices, I would have to narrow my pick down to Sausalito. Great atmosphere, fantastic views, close to the city, but super close to nature.

In the penthouse of one of the high rises on Russian Hill.

Runner-up would be Belvedere/Tiburon. I do like Sausalito, but it becomes so overrun with tourists in the summer. I think that would get old.

Several places come to mind: Nob Hill, Walnut Creek, Danville, Los Altos, Tiburon.

Crocker Highlands or Trestle Glen in Oakland or the parts of Piedmont that are walkable to Grand/Lakeshore/Piedmont Ave if I had kids. Willow Glen if I had to live in the South Bay.

Otherwise Uptown, Oakland in a loft or the Cathedral Building.

Basically somewhere that is walkable/transit friendly with interesting architecture and sun in the summer.

Mill Valley.

Sausalito is too cluttered with tourist shops.

Im with the staying put vote.

Upper Rockridge in Oakland is home.

Although, I would move over to downtown Oakland if I found something big and gaudy(lol) enough.

Would depend upon which stage in my life I was in. If I were young and single (and rich of course), I'd buy a pad in the city in Pac Heights, Marina or Russian Hill.

Of course, I'm married and have a kid, so those amenities do not appeal to me anymore. At this point, I'm more inclined to look for a place with better weather and schools, but still has a nice downtown area. Sausalito, Tiburon and Palo Alto are on the top of my list.

I'm with ya Mike. I always thought Napa/Sonoma, but Sausalito would be ideal for me. Now I just need those darn winning lottery numbers.
