San Francisco makes a lot of "top 10" lists - top travel destination, most millionaires, best weather, etc. But this is one I'm not so proud of - http://finance.yahoo.com/loans/artic...-Gas-in-the-US

Anyone else sick of these ridiculous gas prices? I'm now paying around $50 for a tank, and I drive a freakin' Honda Accord 5-speed... do you think it will drop (or slow) anytime soon?

Oil is skyrocketing... although didn't it just dip recently due to a report on Iran? But still you can expect gas to go up and up and up soon.

Gas is actually really cheap. Here in the USA we don't have to pay for its full cost - such as the cost of creating more traffic, noise, pollution, sprawl, road maintenance and construction, etc.. It's 2-3x more expensive in most of the highly developed world, compared to the USA.

Pay for the TRUE cost of gasoline! (http://www.communityenvironmentalcouncil.org/Programs/EP/pop_gasChart.htm - broken link)
True Cost Economics : True Cost Pricing

From Steven Levitt, Economist, author of the book "Freakonomics":
Quote:
For a long time I have felt the price of gasoline in the United States was way too low. Pretty much all economists believe this.

$50/tank compared to the average salaries we get is very cheap if we compare with gas in countries like pakistan, bangladesh, india, china and sri lanka.

Hey Gizmo, I feel your pain. We are paying $3.86 a gallon for heating oil in the North East. It just cost me nearly $800 to fill my oil tank for heat, which in this cold will last maybe 6 weeks. Ouch!

I haven't lived in any of those countries, nor do I plan to... I live in the United States, where gas prices are rising faster & faster. Pretty soon we will be at their prices! Anyway, I get your (and Miliano's) point, but that doesn't make me feel better at the pump - especially when MY city is ranked the most expensive. That was really my only point, that it sucks how other cities & states are much lower. Yes, our salaries are higher here, but so is the cost-of-living (especially rent & real estate).

And seeing how the price of fuel directly affects how much we pay for every item we purchase this expensive city just keeps getting more expensive.

Tell my about it. I now pay $120 to fill the gas tank of my Chevy Work Van and it takes forever if I happen to be at one of those stations that only lets you buy in $50 increments with a credit card.
