Hi all,

I'm considering moving to the San Jose South and wondering how bad the morning and evening commute time would be traveling to Livermore.

Areas I am considering moving to: South San Jose, like Almaden, Edenvale

* How long is the commute time between these destinations? I'm guess ~50min from Alamaden Valley to Livermore? I need to be at work at 9:00 AM. and leave at 6:00 PM
* Any difference between morning and evening commute time?
* I am planning to take 87 north then 280/680 south then 580 East.

Thanks much in advanced for your help!

Well I drive up that direction en route to Sacramento during morning commute time from time to time. From 680 & Montague Expressway up to Livermore you are in the bonafide "reverse commute" direction and will sail on through while pitying the folks sitting bumper-to-bumper on southbound 680 and westbound 580. The only problem is that heading up from Almaden Valley, especially on 87, is going to be in heavy traffic in that direction in the morning until you get to North San Jose. I really doubt the whole commute would only be 50 minutes. I've heard it takes that long for some people just to get from South SJ to North SJ. I assume you have a good reason to that area but I would look at anywhere between North San Jose to Livemore to have an easy-breezy commute.

Bentobox is right. The hardest part of your commute is just going to be getting through San Jose. Once you get to north SJ/Milpitas, it should pretty much be smooth sailing though.
