The whole bay is expensive, east west, doesn't matter. Hayward is still expensive, Gilroy still expensive. I dont know where you get that logic where the bay is cheap

I think he's saying there are ways to "make it" on little money, even in areas of the Bay Area that aren't ghetto. And he's not wrong. You can certainly get by on that kind of money. Hint: roommates. Lots of roommates. Preferably in a rent-controlled apartment/house.
