The article is bizarre. First, it excludes Napa and Sonoma Counties from the Bay Area. Second, it appears to be projecting that the trends observed over the last 10 years will continue without modification for another 30 years. Has anyone done a cross check, e.g. projecting what happened from 1970-1980 for another 30 years and comparing to actual 2010 data?

The definition of diversity in the article is unclear. It is quite possible that many of the outlying cities/counties could grow less diverse as their non-white populations increase.

It doesn't make much sense to do a straight comparison of a combined city/county with several much larger (geographically speaking) counties that each contain several cities. I will eat my hat if SF ever becomes whiter than Moraga, Danville, Sausalito, etc...

It isn't but other Bay Area counties have become much less white recently. San Francisco's white % declined by 2% in the last census (43.6% to 41.9%). It possibly has stabilized or is close to that. Contra Costa went from 57% to 47%. San Mateo 49 to 42%.

As of 2013, outside of North Bay the only county that's whiter than San Francisco (41.6%). is Contra Costa (46.3%). Seems likely Contra Costa will be less white than San Francisco within a decade or two. Both Marin and Sonoma are much whiter, it's possible they might become less white than San Francisco, but I'd guess it would take a long time, too far in advance to predict.

Contra Costa is bassicaly two different counties a mostly white and wealthy southern part and mostly non white and ghetto northern part. San Francisco is very expensive and that makes it to expensive for blacks and latinos. Also wealthier Asians tend to prefer suburban areas such as Cupertino while wealthy whites are willing to pay more to live in smaller spaces in places like SF and the Westside of LA. You see the same trend in Southern California with Orange County and the Southbay area of LA becoming more Asian while urban parts of LA such as Hollywood, Venice, and Echo Park are becoming Wealthier and Whiter. Same is probably true for NY.

Makes sense, however for San Francisco just about every neighborhood saw significant gains in Asian population. Its asian population just didn't grow as fast as the rest of the Bay Area, though it was already very Asian already. Hispanic population actually increased from 2000 to 2010 [though again less then the rest of the Bay Area]; it was only the black population that had a large decrease.

LOL Interesting this new Right Wing Phenomenon of White men wanting to play victim like they have had such a horrible abusive history by "non whites". Like White people have just been treated like garbage for 500 years in his country. These types have spent the last centuries making fun of the "whining hyper sensitive" Black, Latino, Asian etc. who complain about discrimination only to turn around and be the biggest bunch of Pseudo victims in the history of man kind.

It's not really about the right wing. That commentor has a point about the middle class being squeezed out of places like the Bay Area and Coastal Socal.

Remember how the Hollywood has been treating Asians like they are not masculine enough and making fun of their accents? How they have to have a sense of humor because they are different from Disney's ideal.

You know that asian-americans put up with that crap, but 'hey man they are good at Karate, kung fu 'and all that stuff.

And yet the aa individual gets a better shake than his customs/society?
I think the people who are after money and power wish that they could be different once in awhile, but they bite off too much things to pay off.

Maybe they are happy working, but I think they should have considered that some jobs are easier than they'd like to believe, and that degree and process of hiring is getting in the way of hiring people who think for themselves, I don't think they care about what's right and fair.

And no, I don't feel like whining or crying so they can do without me, and I don't care about them anymore. I'll just go play with My $$ and not care at all. You could have learned about life from all kinds of people, but you have to treat people like their hearts don't matter at all.
Maybe denying people their feelings makes the boss all kinds of dough.

Rant over. YMMV

Ignoring all the racism, yes, perhaps SF will soon be the whitest county excluding the North Bay but the fact that this will be the case even when the white percentage in SF is decreasing and is less than 50% is just a testament to how diverse the Bay Area is in general. Every county in the Bay Area sans the North Bay is extremely diverse and has a very low percentage of whites for the country as a whole.

He has no point, considering whites are the ones who turned major cities like Detroit into slums in the first place. It's not just whites being squeezed out FYI. Now they want to cry about having to leave unaffordable area's after denying White Flight even existed. Now their mad at Asians and want to play victim. BOO HOOO
