No I am not stressed about it at all since I don't regularly use BART.

However, I do feel bad for those who don't know how to protect themselves from airborne contaminants or shield themselves from being affected by harmful germs.

I know how to be careful from picking up harmful germs.

I have never been to NY, but I don't believe NYC is any cleaner. There was a recent news article somewhere (maybe SFist ? ) that was about how filthy the NYC transit is, and I recall it was mentioned that some of the bacteria found in the subway was unidentifiable.

I think we each are choosing to focus on the negatives about cities we don't like and ignore the positives & similarities. For example, a lot of the NYers I met here in SF rubbed me the wrong way with brash rudeness, so I tend to not like NY and see it as much worse of a place than it might be.

Not that I don't also see the negative features of SF (such as that we have rude NYers here, lol).
LOL about the rude NYers

I am sure that being used to it is why you are not bothered by it.

I have traveled all over the US and abroad. SF is one of the filthiest cities I have ever seen.

I loved SF back in the late 70s early 80s. I know nothing remains the same...but it is such a shame how negatively SF has fallen.

Whoa! Does that mean they auction it off after it goes unclaimed by previous owners? You know, like they do with handbags and other valuables? Does the ASPCA get involved? Or just Animal Control? God, the questions are just flooding my brain on this.

Man, the thought of leaving my bacteria on a subway is a lonely, sad feeling. What a way to lose a friend.

Just make sure to not leave your TB floating around.

SF has always had a high incidence of TB, and it becomes especially important to be aware of when crammed in like sardines on any public transportation system. TB and it's treatment is no laughing matter.

Well, that's cool, of course. A place for the obsessed to indulge. But it's not here on CD where we have a small cadre of regulars who revisit the issue as often as the constipated wish they were regular.
