Interestingly, I had a very close friend some years back who was gay. One day I asked him out of curiosity why he doesn't have the gay flag bumper stickers and/or the other gay flag paraphernalia. He simply replied that he's happy with who he is (gay) and doesn't need to point himself out as someone who requires special attention, special treatment and/or special approval.

Which reminds me, oh about 20 years ago or so I was over at his house and we were watching tv. The news came on talking about the gay marriage issues. At which point he's pissed and turns to me and says: "So how would you feel if you were in love with this beautiful Asian girl and the government said you couldn't marry her......how would you feel? (I date Asian women exclusively and he dates Asian men exclusively so that's why he mentioned "Asian girl" in his question). I simply replied "well at least when we break up, she won't get half". He stopped there quiet for a few moments and then started getting this really big grin on his face. I could practically see the wheels spinning in his head by this time. He's calculating all the guys he's dated over the past several years I'm sure of it. He then replies "you've got a good point there.....a really good point there".
