Except this time coppers are standing back and saying fine, have it your way. Enjoy these upstanding members of the community, who just need a hug and universal basic income. In the good old days before cellphone and body cameras, cops could at least tune up a suspect and dish out some street justice. There used to be a day when these little punks feared the police.
Seems you have no idea what universal basic income is and does for the entire economy ... nor is it a “liberal” concept. Maybe you should read a bit about its history ... including that it was first proposed to congress by the Nixon administration, passed in Senate / defeated by House, in modern day America ... and championed by Reagan’s conservative economist Milton Friedman.

As for your repetitive post references to how cops should be ‘tuning up’ suspects ... um, two things come to mind: 1. “Suspects” are innocent until guilty under the American system legal system of justice ... and 2. maybe you should read this:
Today, the national crime rate is about half of what it was at its height in 1991. Violent crime has fallen by 51 percent since 1991, and property crime by 43 percent. In 2013 the violent crime rate was the lowest since 1970. And this holds true for unreported crimes as well. According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, since 1993 the rate of violent crime has declined from 79.8 to 23.2 victimizations per 1,000 people. Americans who lived through the 1960s and 1970s remember the fear associated with a real surge in violent crime. In fact, the violent crime rate increased by 126 percent between 1960 and 1970, and by 64 percent between 1970 and 1980. The Brennan Center recently issued a report examining 14 theories for why crime declined in the U.S. so dramatically since the early 1990s. According to our empirical analysis, the greatest contributing factors in the crime drop were aging population, changes in income, and decreased alcohol consumption. - https://www.brennancenter.org/our-wo...on-crime-rates

Oakland is so weird right now. Insane construction boom and tons of people out and about socializing enjoying it, while at the same time crime has really gotten out of control over the last year. I stick to the parts that I know are safe and avoid the parts that aren't, but if you aren't from here or haven't lived here for a while, you may very well wind up the victim of a crime because it can be really hard to tell.

UBI is basically summed up as passing Go and collecting $200 (whether you need it or not) to help keep yourself competitive in the quintessential capitalist game.

I think it's more that they're the ones left in public/project housing, while the middle class neighbors sold their houses for a hefty profit (or in some cases, bulldozed). See: San Francisco.

or you can be like me and always have weapons on you at all times (pepperspray, pocket knife, etc). Always walked around Oakland and wasn't afraid of my safety, especially since im a big Hispanic male with a loud af voice. I was always more concerned about car break ins because of the bums.

THE ONE THING WE NEED MORE THAN ANYTHING, is MORE police. Or, make the police more effective by adding police dogs, drones, and installing cameras everywhere. Violent crime tripled the instant our %^*&## Mayor decided to give in to the bullies demands. I can't imagine what being that stupid is like.

In the last 15-20 years have you spent much time in Oakland ?

A while back I remember a post of yours that mentioned your dearth of visits to San Francisco (the city itself), from your part of the Bay Area, over a period of quite a few years.

Right, so this thread is completely unnecessary and was started by a person from out-of-state, another 'shocker'.
