I am going to San Francisco this week and was wondering how I should dress? I have heard that it can cool off pretty quickly. Will it be too cold to wear capris and t-shirts during the day and just put on a zip of type sweatshirt at night or should I be wearing long sleeves/pants during the day and a heavier jacket at night. Any info would be appreciated. I am coming from Utah and leaving temperatures in the 70's.

This past week I spent my time in SF looking for a place to stay/go to school and enjoy a short vacation. It was pretty damn chilly during the few nights I've been out. During the day it was pretty nice. I enjoyed cold breeze.

I was rockin a wife beater/tee/hoodie for tops and jeans w/ knee high socks day and night. I found that pretty comfortable... Until I visited this ridiculous beach right across the street from the zoo, where i was freeeeeeeezing my ass off during the breezy bright afternoon.....

It was unusually warm this morning in SF, so you should come prepared for anything... because while it's really hot today, it could drop back into our normal chilliness in a heartbeat. Once that fog rolls in, you'd better have a jacket handy! We have a basic understanding here that you should always layer, regardless of the time of day or current temperature. Typically it's in the mid 50s-60s both day & night, but the wind and fog makes it feel colder after sunset. Capris & a t-shirt are typically not appropriate for San Francisco, even (especially) in the summer, but you might get away with it this week. Have fun and bring a coat!!
