I posted a few weeks ago about things to see in San Fran, and got so many good suggestions, I"m hoping you all can help me out again We're coming tomorrow and staying in union square for a few days. Meals will be on the company dime, but we'd like to keep it around $50 or under (each) for dinner. Any ideas? We're not very picky, but nothing too outrageous. Also, is there anywhere to drop in for a quick/cheap lunch? Will we need reservations everywhere?
Thanks in advance!

Default Some recommendations...

First Crush Restaurant Wine Bar & Lounge for a nice meal (should still be within your budget if you don't splurge on drinks)

Mel's Drive-In for late-night burgers

sam's diner san francisco - Google Maps for a greasy (but yummy) breakfast/brunch/lunch - no reservations needed, but I think it gets busy at lunchtime.

gyro king san francisco - Google Maps makes a good falafel... this and Sam's Diner are in Civic Center, which is a little sketchy. Just don't make yourself look like a tourist!

And while it's totally not unique to San Francisco, I do love The Cheesecake Factory which is at the top of Macy's Union Square.

FYI - San Francisco dining is generally very casual, and only the fancy places require reservations (and usually just on weekends)... also, "dress codes" are rare if ever. Have a great trip!

Any of the fine establishments in Belden Place (Belden Alley). I also second Cafe Claude.
