Default really?

i have driven this path a couple of times. I am about to do it again with my girlfriend...philly to reno...and its EASY... to go more than 500 miles a day... that will just waste your time and money to go any less. we are going philly to IL to WY to reno. and thats very doable.

anyone that cant do that... i mean come on!

its easy.

Default receipts

Sounds like a long drive. Maybe you could stop at some nice cities along the way to explore a little.

Whatever you do, save your receipts for gas, lodging, any items mailed to you in SF as you can claim them as moving expenses (as long as they are not reimbursed by your employer).

You will climb thru a lot of elevation fairly rapidly on the pass from Cheyenne into Laramie, so be sure and take this into consideration because weather moving in can shut that stretch down very quickly, especially over night. This can even occur in the summer months, so try to make it to Laramie before nighfall.

Doable? yes, practical? no. It's over 2000 miles depending on where you are going in CA and having team driven coast to coast I can tell you it's no fun driving that far that fast. Plan on 600 to 800 miles a day and if you hit that and feel ok keep going a bit more. I personally would budget 3 days and be a little comfortable at least.

Default I am traveling to Nebraska on December

Hi, my husband, children and I are planning to spend the Christmas hollidays in Omaha, Ne.

We are wondering if it's a good idea to go there driving on I-80 from NYC.

Could somebody tell us how is this trip from NYC to Omaha, NE around December 18th?

Having driven from Ann Arbor, MI to Oakland at the end of April, I'd say this a easy 3 day drive. I left AA at 12pm and drove all the way to Kearney, NE stopping for a nice sit down, get out of the car dinner. From Kearney I had lunch in Cheyenne which seems like a neat town then trucked on to Salt Lae, and stayed by the airport. The I did the last part of the drive from SLC to Oakland on the 3rd day. I would suggest driving as much of Nebraska at night as possible because the roads are less monitored, less full, and you aren't missing much scenery. In NE,WY, UT, and NV I was usually going 80 mph+ and not blowing by anyone.

I did Ann Arbor to Vegas last year. I went A2 to Demoins, Demoins to Denver, and Denver to Vegas. Dont know if that helps you or not at all, but driving through Iowa is not as bad as it sounds and Nebraska is BORING

The "no tourism" option:
Day 1 - Omaha - Rawlins / Little America
Day 2 - Rawlins / Little America - Winnamucca
Day 3 - Winnamucca - SF

Add one day per tourist item. For example, Rocky Mountain NP.
