My wife and I are planning a trip to Lake Tahoe in early October and was wondering if someone could tell me what the weather may be like that time of year and some higher end places to stay (5 days). We've never been there before. thanks in advance for the info

you will love it, there are not many places on earth much prettier than Tahoe. As for upscale, I would suggest you look on a Tahoe website or Travelocity, something like that. There are many great properties. Make sure you consentrate on South Lake Tahoe so you can be near the action. The weather will be cold and crisp at night and days, probably in the 60s. Of course anything can happen. We were there the last week of April, had thought it was going to be in the 50s and 30s at night, brought sweat shiirts and ended up not wearing any until the last day, when we woke up to snow.

Try Harrah's hotel & casino at south lake Tahoe. The Horizon and Harvey's hotel/casino are nearby also.
